In this dinner presentation Gaston will:

  1. Describe the value of the skin as a vital organ in human survival
  2. Describe the function and structure of skin with focus on the barrier properties and its impact on the overall homeostasis
  3. Define the host-system microbiota system and its functional implications in health and disease
  4. Analyze the vulnerability and the main threats to skin integrity within the vascular access environment
  5. State the role of vascular access professionals in the prevention of skin integrity damage as part of the overall patient safety strategy
