Blood draws are one of the most ubiquitous medical procedures performed in hospitals every day. And while their results inform 70% of all clinical decisions, there has been little innovation to the procedure in decades. The trauma, risk and waste created by the nearly 450M blood draws that occur in the US every year, has been overlooked. The current state of blood draws allows for 30 percent of adults and over 40 percent of children to undergo multiple stick attempts. This not only negatively impacts patient experience but also leads to vessel depletion, vein injury and phlebitis.

The Presentation will Review:

  • Suboptimal Blood Collection Practices
  • Hurdles to Peripheral IV Collections
  • Research Venous Anatomy’s Role in Blood Collection

Dinner will be served. Seating is limited.
