Winner of the 2014 Suzanne LaVere Herbst Award For Excellence in Vascular Access

Nancy Moureau epitomizes the spirit of the Suzanne LaVere Herbst Award for Excellence in Vascular Access.  An internationally recognized educator, speaker, and clinical consultant in the field of vascular access she is considered to be a leading expert on Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters.  Nancy began her nursing practice in 1981 and has worked in many different practice areas beginning with Pediatric and Neonatal departments, home infusion, intensive care and now IV/PICC Team.  In 1984, Nancy moved to a role in vascular access and infusion therapy in home infusion as a staff nurse, clinical educator and manager. 

Having received her CRNI, Certification in Intravenous Therapy in 1987, she was one of the early thought leaders in the development of PICC education and training in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Nancy also was an early champion for the expansion of nursing roles in vascular access.  In 1994, she founded PICC Excellence, Inc. a company dedicated to providing clinical education, consulting and research in the field of vascular access. Nancy works directly with educational programming for vascular access with online programs and in working directly with manufacturers.

Nancy currently works as a clinician part-time on the PICC team at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC, and provides consulting, education programming and management in conjunction with her company, PICC Excellence, Inc. She is currently enrolled at Griffith University working on her PhD which should be completed in 2016.  

As a published author, Nancy is constantly involved with research and literature analysis sharing her information and interpretation with manufacturers, hospitals and individuals as an expert throughout the US and abroad on subjects specific to PICC Lines, ultrasound and vascular access.  Nancy has spoken as an invited or sponsored speaker at professional meetings and conferences worldwide.  She has provided clinical education offerings throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia.
